The SafeCrete
U-Block is a specialty item that reduces on-site cutting for
bond beam and lintel construction. The trough allows for
easy insertion of steel reinforcement, after which the hollow
space is filled with concrete.
The photograph at right shows the corner detail of a bond beam.
The builder cut a piece from the side of the block using a standard
hand saw, and attached that piece to the end of the block.
This simple procedure connects the troughs in the two walls
and prevents the concrete mixture from pouring out the end of
the block.
U-Blocks are utilized in both residential and commercial construction.
Although all U-Blocks are very light, they are safe to use even
in multi-story load-bearing applications, because the concrete
fill provides support.
SafeCrete U-Blocks are available in a range of sizes.
