Energy Efficient Cellular Structure is created by the unique manufacturing process. Millions of tiny air cells give SafeCrete amazing insulating properties, reducing heating and cooling costs by as much as half. Thermal Mass Inertia slows the transfer of heat through the wall. SafeCrete walls are typically 8 to 10 inches thick. The sheer mass of the wall causes heat to pass through more slowly. In temperate climates, this lag time allows the HVAC system to compete against the average temperature of the day, rather than the peak temperature. The chart below demonstrates thermal mass inertia. In this study, one side of a 10-inch AAC wall was painted black to maximize heat absorption from the sun. A thermometer measured temperature changes on the exterior and interior surfaces over a twenty-four hour period. The exterior surface fluctuated over 126°F while the interior surface fluctuated only +2°F. Autoclaved Aerated

Low Air Infiltration also enhances the energy efficiency of SafeCrete
buildings. Solid, single-component construction prevents the kind
of air gaps that frequently occur around electrical outlets. SafeCrete
breathes, but does not allow direct air penetration.
